This week, our meeting was the annual passing of the gavel. This is always a bittersweet day as we bid farewell to the past year’s President. This year, it was Vicki Violette we had the privilege of congratulating on a job well done! Vicki has led the club faithfully over the past year and done such a wonderful job as our 2018-2019 Clinton Rotary Club President!
Vicki discussed several interesting things, including the length of time that some of our members have been in the club. Below are all the members that have been in the club longer than 15 years and how long they have belonged, which is quite impressive!
Under Vicki’s leadership this year, our club has won several awards that we are very proud of, including the Rotary Citation Award, which is the highest award our club can get! We also won the District Governor’s Citation Award, Polio Eradicator Club Award, the Globe Award for international projects, the Reach Award, and the Yes Award (Level 5) for our youth programs. This is definitely something to be proud of for all of your hard work! We also want to thank Vicki for everything she has done to achieve these awards!
Next, she discussed what it means to be a Paul Harris Fellow. This status is achieved by members that have personally given $1000 in donations or more, above and beyond their regular dues. This money is then used for grants and service projects. We are proud to have several Paul Harris Fellows in our club! Jerry presented Vicki with a certificate today as well for achieving Paul Harris Fellow status! What a better way to spend her last meeting as our Club President than to be inducted in as a Paul Harris Fellow! Congratulations Vicki!
In addition, we have recently learned that all of the money our club members’ have donated over the years equals a little over $51,000! For every donation our club makes, we also get points as a club that can be used to help sponsor other members to also become Paul Harris Fellows. Our club currently has over 10,000 points that we are going to be able to use to help other members in our club achieve this status. Just as Jerry graciously gave Vicki over 300 points to help her achieve her goal, we are going to be setting up a matching program soon to do the same for others. Ron will be speaking more about that in the days to come.
As is customary at the end of a Rotary year, Vicki presented several awards to those that have gone above and beyond in the club this year. The awards she presented are as follows:
Dr. Sylvia Pastor from Roane State Community College for her hard work and dedication to the area Rotaract Clubs
Jay Birkbeck – Youth Exchange Program and CHS Interact Advisor
Regina Copeland - ACHS Interact Advisor
(Not Pictured)
Trey McAdams – CHS Interact Advisor
Dean Knight – Outstanding Service to our Club with outreach projects such as the Literacy Program
Vicki also awarded the Rotary Board Members for their service as well, which included:

AnnouncementsJerry gave a financial report to show that we are doing great! We have $30,746 in bank right now, which is partly designated to the Polio Plus Fund and Daddy Daughter Dance. Schedule for the next few weeks - Next week, we will not meet because of the 4th of July holiday. Then the next meeting after that, we will meet back up with another club meeting ringing in Ron as our new 2019-2020 Rotary President! Attached is a committee sign-up sheet for the upcoming Rotary year. This will enable you to pick a committee of interest that you would like to be involved in to help the club. If everyone will pitch in to help a little bit, then no one person would be left with the burden of too much work to be done. If you have questions about any of these, please see Ron. |

This new celebration will be at the Gettysvue Clubhouse in on June 30 at 3:00 p.m. The celebration will include heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Cost is $30 per person. The Gettysvue Clubhouse is located in West Knoxville at 9317 Linksvue Drive. They hope to see you there! |
